The Yang Di-Pertuan Agong's birthday is tomorrow. 7th June 08 and I feel proud to be a Malaysian. We have these great royal presence leading us which goes back hundreds of years ago. It is part of our cultural identity and it's unimaginable to exist without them.
In March I followed my co-worker who was part of the reporting team for the Prime Minister's oath taking ceremony. We went there to witness first hand the event which lasted about half an hour. We were in the media room above the 'balairong seri' where we saw the whole thing behind tinted windows. This is so that we could look at the ceremony and report about the ceremony without disturbing the event.
The cameraman from our television unit was also there to capture the historic moment and broadcast it to the world. He took the video through one open window to get a clearer picture. My friend also took this opportunity to take some pictures through the open window, While taking pictures beside the camera she said that Her Royal Highness, The Queen looked up to look at the camera. Feeling surprised at being seen by HRH The Queen my friend quickly hid away!
